Our Story

about BAODI

Ningbo Baodi Plastic Valve Co., Ltd. traces its origins back to 1979, with its predecessors being Zhenhai Chemical Valve Factory and Beilun Plastic Valve Factory. The company is one of the earliest Vertical Industrial Check Valves Manufacturers and Custom Vertical Industrial Check Valves Factory in China to design and produce industrial plastic valves and receive acceptance from the Ministry of Chemical Industry. In 1979, the company manufactured its first plastic diaphragm valve, which passed the technical appraisal of the Ministry of Chemical Industry in 1983. In 1992, the company invented the one-piece flange ball valve, a structural design that has since become the most widely used plastic valve product in chemical-related industries. The development history of the company and its predecessors also represents an important chapter in the application of plastic valves in China's industrial production.

In 2006, the company expanded its product line to cover industrial plastic pipes and fittings, becoming one of the first domestic enterprises to apply CPVC material in the production of industrial-grade piping valves. Over more than 40 years since its establishment, the company has designed and manufactured various plastic valves for the most demanding industries. It has served tens of thousands of enterprises both domestically and internationally, exporting to more than 60 countries, and has consistently remained a leading manufacturer of industrial thermoplastic valves and piping systems. Our professional service and stable quality have always been well received and recognized by customers.

Baodi ranks among the global leaders in the number of product categories, capable of fully covering industrial plastic pipe and valve requirements. The company has obtained ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 system certifications, as well as the national special equipment pressure piping component manufacturing license. It is recognized as a National High-Tech Enterprise and a Ningbo City Specialized and Sophisticated Enterprise. Baodi is a principal drafter of the national standard for plastic diaphragm valves and the chemical industry standards for plastic diaphragm valves, plastic ball valves, and plastic check valves.

Overview

Lift-type checks designed for upward flow in vertical pipe runs

Built to work against gravity

Vertical industrial check valves are designed for mounting in vertical lines with flow running upward. A guided disc or poppet lifts straight up off its seat when forward flow arrives and drops back by its own weight when the flow stops, so no spring or hinge is needed. The guided, in-line motion keeps the element centered and gives repeatable sealing in pipe runs where a hinged swing disc could hang open.

Common on pump risers and sump discharges

Vertical risers are common wherever a pump sits below the discharge point, such as sump pumps, wet-well pumps, and tank transfer systems. Mounting the check valve in the vertical run keeps it close to the pump and lets gravity do the closing. The valve must be installed in the vertical position with flow upward, and it is not suited to horizontal or downward flow.

Application

Where vertical checks are used

Risers and upward-flow lines where gravity can be counted on to close the valve.

Sump & Wet-Well Pump Risers
Holding discharge in the riser when the pump stops.
Tank Transfer Systems
Preventing drain-back from elevated tanks.
Chemical Metering from Day Tanks
Backflow protection on vertical dosing lines.
Cooling Tower Risers
Check protection on vertical water risers.
Building Water Risers
Backflow prevention on vertical service risers.
Mining & Dewatering Pumps
Vertical check protection on pump columns.
Material Selection

Body, disc, and seal choices

The disc must be heavy enough to close by gravity yet light enough to lift, so disc and body materials are matched to the fluid.

Comparison

Vertical lift check vs. swing check

Both are gravity-closing designs; the lift check stays centered in vertical risers while the swing check suits horizontal lines.

Advantage

Why vertical checks are chosen for risers

Gravity Closing
No spring or hinge is needed to return the disc.
Guided Disc
Straight in-line motion keeps the disc centered on the seat.
Simple Construction
Few parts to wear in service.
Compact in Risers
Fits directly into vertical pump discharge runs.
Reliable Sealing
Repeatable seating where a hinged disc could hang open.
Corrosion-Free
Plastic bodies suit corrosive and abrasive fluids.
Structure & Components

What is inside the valve

A guided disc lifts up with forward flow and drops back onto the seat when flow stops.

1. Body — Plastic housing for vertical mounting
2. Guided Disc — Lifts with upward flow and falls onto the seat
3. Disc Guide — Keeps the disc aligned as it travels
4. Seat — Sealing surface the disc closes against
5. Seat Seal — Elastomer for tight shutoff
6. End Connections — Socket, threaded, or flanged ends
Quality Control

Every valve is checked before it ships

Disc travel, guide fit, and seat sealing are verified on every vertical check.

1
Material Check
Resin and elastomer batches are checked for grade and consistency.
2
Disc Travel Check
Disc lift and drop are checked for free, guided movement.
3
Hydrostatic Test
Each body is pressure tested at its rated working pressure.
4
Backflow Seal Test
Reverse pressure verifies the disc seals on the seat.
5
Dimensional Check
Connections and flow markings are checked against drawings.
6
Batch Traceability
Production batches are recorded back to raw material lots.
Options

Configuring the vertical check

Disc weight and seat material are matched to the fluid and the pressure available to open the valve.

Installation & Maintenance

Getting it right in the field

Installation Guidance
  • Mount in a vertical line only, with the flow arrow pointing up.
  • Keep straight pipe below the valve to give the disc steady flow.
  • Support the pipe above and below so the body carries no pipe load.
  • Do not install in horizontal or downward-flow lines.
Maintenance Guidance
  • Inspect the disc, guide, and seat for wear or scale.
  • Clean the internals in dirty service on a regular schedule.
  • Replace the seat seal if backflow is detected.
  • Check that the disc still moves freely after long idle periods.
Payment, Shipping & Warranty

  • Replacement discs, seals, and guides available as spare parts.
FAQ

Common questions

Can a vertical check valve be installed horizontally?
No. The disc closes by gravity, so it needs a vertical line with upward flow.
Does it need a spring?
No, the guided disc drops by its own weight; a spring-loaded check is the option when any-orientation mounting is needed.
Where is it usually installed?
On vertical pump discharge risers, close above the pump.
What sizes are available?
DN15 to DN150 in standard ranges.
What cracking pressure should I expect?
It depends on the disc weight and valve size, and is low enough for normal pump pressures.
