Our Story

about BAODI

Ningbo Baodi Plastic Valve Co., Ltd. traces its origins back to 1979, with its predecessors being Zhenhai Chemical Valve Factory and Beilun Plastic Valve Factory. The company is one of the earliest Spring Loaded Plastic Check Valves Manufacturers and Custom Spring Loaded Plastic Check Valves Factory in China to design and produce industrial plastic valves and receive acceptance from the Ministry of Chemical Industry. In 1979, the company manufactured its first plastic diaphragm valve, which passed the technical appraisal of the Ministry of Chemical Industry in 1983. In 1992, the company invented the one-piece flange ball valve, a structural design that has since become the most widely used plastic valve product in chemical-related industries. The development history of the company and its predecessors also represents an important chapter in the application of plastic valves in China's industrial production.

In 2006, the company expanded its product line to cover industrial plastic pipes and fittings, becoming one of the first domestic enterprises to apply CPVC material in the production of industrial-grade piping valves. Over more than 40 years since its establishment, the company has designed and manufactured various plastic valves for the most demanding industries. It has served tens of thousands of enterprises both domestically and internationally, exporting to more than 60 countries, and has consistently remained a leading manufacturer of industrial thermoplastic valves and piping systems. Our professional service and stable quality have always been well received and recognized by customers.

Baodi ranks among the global leaders in the number of product categories, capable of fully covering industrial plastic pipe and valve requirements. The company has obtained ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 system certifications, as well as the national special equipment pressure piping component manufacturing license. It is recognized as a National High-Tech Enterprise and a Ningbo City Specialized and Sophisticated Enterprise. Baodi is a principal drafter of the national standard for plastic diaphragm valves and the chemical industry standards for plastic diaphragm valves, plastic ball valves, and plastic check valves.

Overview

A spring-assisted element that closes fast in any orientation

How a spring-loaded check works

Spring loaded plastic check valves hold a disc or poppet against its seat with a light spring. Forward pressure compresses the spring and lifts the element; as soon as flow slows, the spring pushes the element back before the flow can reverse. Because the spring, not gravity or back pressure, does the closing, the valve works in any orientation and closes quickly enough to reduce water hammer in pumped systems.

Cracking pressure set by the spring

The spring rate sets the cracking pressure, the minimum forward pressure needed to open the valve. Light springs give a low cracking pressure for gravity-fed lines, while firmer springs add backpressure for dosing pumps and injection points. The spring is usually stainless steel or a plastic-coated alloy sealed away from the fluid wherever the chemistry requires it.

Application

Where spring checks are used

Pumped lines, dosing points, and mixed orientations that need fast, positive closing.

Chemical Dosing & Injection
Backpressure and backflow prevention at injection points.
Pump Discharge Lines
Fast closing to reduce water hammer on pump stop.
Vertical or Angled Lines
Positive closing where gravity cannot be counted on.
Water Treatment Skids
Compact checks in packaged systems.
Irrigation Fertigation Lines
Preventing fertilizer backflow into the water source.
Laboratory & Pilot Plants
Small, positive-seating checks for compact rigs.
Material Selection

Body, seal, and spring choices

The spring must resist the fluid as well as the body, so spring material is chosen with the chemistry in mind.

Comparison

Spring-loaded vs. gravity-closing check valves

A spring replaces gravity, trading some pressure loss for faster, orientation-free closing.

Advantage

Why spring checks are chosen for pumped lines

Any Mounting Orientation
The spring closes the valve regardless of line direction.
Fast Closing
The spring seats the disc before flow reverses, reducing slam.
Selectable Cracking Pressure
Spring rate sets the opening pressure for the application.
Backpressure Capability
A firmer spring holds backpressure for dosing and injection.
Compact Body
Short length suits skids and small-bore lines.
Corrosion-Free Wetted Path
Plastic body and coated spring suit aggressive fluids.
Structure & Components

What is inside the valve

A spring holds the disc against the seat until forward pressure compresses it and lifts the disc.

1. Body — Plastic housing for any-orientation mounting
2. Disc / Poppet — Lifts with forward flow, seals when spring pushes it back
3. Spring — Sets the cracking pressure and closes the disc
4. Seat — Sealing surface the disc closes against
5. Seat Seal — Elastomer for tight shutoff
6. End Connections — Socket, threaded, or flanged ends
Quality Control

Every valve is checked before it ships

Cracking pressure is checked against the specified spring rate in addition to sealing.

1
Material Check
Resin, elastomer, and spring batches are checked for grade and consistency.
2
Cracking Pressure Check
Opening pressure is measured against the specified spring rate.
3
Hydrostatic Test
Each body is pressure tested at its rated working pressure.
4
Backflow Seal Test
Reverse pressure verifies the disc seals on the seat.
5
Cycling Check
Sample units are cycled to confirm consistent spring action.
6
Batch Traceability
Production batches are recorded back to raw material lots.
Spring Selection

Matching spring rate to the line

The spring sets how much forward pressure is needed to open the valve.

Installation & Maintenance

Getting it right in the field

Installation Guidance
  • Install with the flow arrow matching the flow direction, in any orientation.
  • Confirm the cracking pressure is below the minimum available forward pressure.
  • Support the pipe on both sides so the body carries no pipe load.
  • Flush new lines before startup so debris does not reach the seat.
Maintenance Guidance
  • Inspect the spring, disc, and seat for wear or scale.
  • Check for sticking if cracking pressure appears to rise over time.
  • Replace the spring and seal together when either shows wear.
  • Clean the internals in dirty service on a regular schedule.
Payment, Shipping & Warranty

FAQ

Common questions

What is cracking pressure?
It is the minimum forward pressure needed to open the valve, set by the spring rate.
Can it be installed in any position?
Yes, because the spring closes the valve, orientation does not matter.
Does it reduce water hammer?
Fast closing helps reduce water hammer compared with slow-closing swing checks.
Is the spring exposed to the fluid?
It usually is, so the spring material is chosen for the fluid; plastic-coated springs are available for aggressive chemistry.
What sizes are available?
DN15 to DN100 in standard ranges.
