Our Story

about BAODI

Ningbo Baodi Plastic Valve Co., Ltd. traces its origins back to 1979, with its predecessors being Zhenhai Chemical Valve Factory and Beilun Plastic Valve Factory. The company is one of the earliest Lever Operated Plastic Butterfly Valves Manufacturers and Custom Lever Operated Plastic Butterfly Valves Factory in China to design and produce industrial plastic valves and receive acceptance from the Ministry of Chemical Industry. In 1979, the company manufactured its first plastic diaphragm valve, which passed the technical appraisal of the Ministry of Chemical Industry in 1983. In 1992, the company invented the one-piece flange ball valve, a structural design that has since become the most widely used plastic valve product in chemical-related industries. The development history of the company and its predecessors also represents an important chapter in the application of plastic valves in China's industrial production.

In 2006, the company expanded its product line to cover industrial plastic pipes and fittings, becoming one of the first domestic enterprises to apply CPVC material in the production of industrial-grade piping valves. Over more than 40 years since its establishment, the company has designed and manufactured various plastic valves for the most demanding industries. It has served tens of thousands of enterprises both domestically and internationally, exporting to more than 60 countries, and has consistently remained a leading manufacturer of industrial thermoplastic valves and piping systems. Our professional service and stable quality have always been well received and recognized by customers.

Baodi ranks among the global leaders in the number of product categories, capable of fully covering industrial plastic pipe and valve requirements. The company has obtained ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 system certifications, as well as the national special equipment pressure piping component manufacturing license. It is recognized as a National High-Tech Enterprise and a Ningbo City Specialized and Sophisticated Enterprise. Baodi is a principal drafter of the national standard for plastic diaphragm valves and the chemical industry standards for plastic diaphragm valves, plastic ball valves, and plastic check valves.

Overview

Quarter-turn lever operation for compact, quick-acting plastic shutoff

A hand lever with positive position stops

Lever operated plastic butterfly valves turn a disc through 90 degrees with a hand lever locked into a notched plate, giving the operator fixed positions for fully open, fully closed, and several throttling settings. The disc and body are molded from PVC-U, CPVC, PP, or PVDF, and a resilient liner seals against the disc edge, so the valve closes tightly without the cavity and packing of a ball or gate valve.

Best at small and medium diameters

A single operator can drive a lever comfortably up to roughly DN200, which is why lever handles are the standard choice for smaller butterfly valves. Above that size the torque rises quickly and a gear operator takes over. Within the lever range, the valve is light, short in face-to-face length, and quick to open or close, which suits water distribution, process headers, and equipment isolation where speed and compactness matter.

Application

Where lever butterfly valves fit

Medium-diameter lines that are opened and closed by hand, and that value speed and low weight, are the natural home of lever operation.

Water Distribution
Section isolation on plastic mains, irrigation headers, and pump stations.
Swimming Pool & Aquatic Systems
Large-bore isolation on filtration and circulation loops.
Aquaculture
Quick shutoff on inlet, drain, and aeration lines.
Process Water Headers
Isolation of branches on cooling, rinse, and utility water headers.
Chemical Dosing & Transfer
Quarter-turn isolation on diluted chemical transfer lines.
Equipment Isolation
Shutoff ahead of filters, strainers, and heat exchangers.
Material Selection

Disc, body, and liner combinations

The body and disc set the chemical range; the liner sets the sealing behavior and temperature limit.

Comparison

Lever operated vs. gear operated butterfly valves

The valve body is the same; the operator changes with size, torque, and how precisely the disc must be set.

Advantage

Why a lever operator is chosen

Fast Quarter-Turn Action
A single motion moves the disc between open and closed.
Positive Position Stops
A notched plate holds the disc at fixed settings against vibration.
Light and Compact
Short face-to-face length and low weight ease support and installation.
Bidirectional Sealing
The resilient liner seals against flow from either side.
No Cavity to Clog
The disc sits in the flow path without a ball cavity to trap debris.
Low Cost per Diameter
A lever and wafer body is the most economical way to isolate a medium line.
Structure & Components

What is inside the valve

A plastic disc rotates on a stem inside a resilient liner, with the lever mounted on the stem top.

1. Body — Wafer or lug ring placed between pipe flanges
2. Disc — Plastic disc that rotates 90° to open or close
3. Liner — Elastomer seat that seals against the disc edge and serves as the flange gasket
4. Stem — Transfers lever rotation to the disc
5. Notched Plate — Locks the lever at set positions
6. Lever — Hand handle for quarter-turn operation
Quality Control

Every valve is checked before it ships

Disc-to-liner fit and operating torque are checked closely because they set both sealing and effort.

1
Material Check
Resin and elastomer batches are checked for grade and consistency.
2
Disc Concentricity Check
Disc and liner alignment is checked to confirm even compression.
3
Hydrostatic Test
Each valve is pressure tested at its rated working pressure.
4
Seat Leak Test
A shutoff test verifies the liner seals against the disc.
5
Lever Torque Test
Operating torque is checked for smooth, consistent action.
6
Batch Traceability
Production batches are recorded back to raw material lots.
Operator Upgrade

Lever now, gear or actuator later

A standard top flange allows the lever to be replaced with a gear operator or actuator without changing the valve.

Installation & Maintenance

Getting it right in the field

Installation Guidance
  • Place the valve between flanges so the liner faces seal the flange without extra gaskets.
  • Open the disc slightly before bolting so it does not protrude past the body and get pinched.
  • Tighten flange bolts evenly in a criss-cross pattern to avoid distorting the liner.
  • Check that the open disc clears the inside diameter of adjoining pipe or fittings.
Maintenance Guidance
  • Cycle the valve periodically so the liner does not take a compression set.
  • Inspect the liner and stem seal for leaks at routine turnarounds.
  • Re-torque flange bolts after the first thermal cycles.
  • Replace the liner if the disc no longer seals cleanly.
Payment, Shipping & Warranty

Ordering with confidence

Payment & Shipping

Payment: T/T (bank transfer), L/C, and PayPal are accepted, with flexible terms for repeat orders. A deposit is typically required to confirm production.

Warranty & Support

Each valve is covered under a standard warranty against manufacturing defects in material and workmanship, generally valid for 12 months from the shipment date.

  • Guidance on liner selection and flange compatibility before ordering.
  • Replacement liners and levers available as spare parts.
FAQ

Common questions

What sizes suit a lever handle?
Lever operation is practical up to roughly DN200; above that, a gear operator reduces the effort.
Can the lever be locked in position?
Yes, a notched plate holds the lever at fixed positions, and a lock option can be fitted.
Do I need gaskets between the valve and the flanges?
The resilient liner extends over the body faces and normally acts as the gasket, so separate gaskets are not usually needed.
Is the valve bidirectional?
Yes, the liner seals against pressure from either direction.
Can the valve be automated?
A standard top flange accepts a gear operator, pneumatic actuator, or electric actuator.
