PPH-FRP composite pipes combine a PPH inner liner with a fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) structural wrap, extending PPH's high-temperature chemical resistance into larger diameters and pressure ratings than a standard PPH pipe wall can economically achieve on its own.
Key characteristics:
• The PPH inner liner retains the material's characteristic high heat deflection temperature and broad chemical resistance, keeping the wetted surface protected in elevated-temperature corrosive service.
• The FRP outer wrap substantially increases hoop and axial strength, allowing larger diameters and higher pressure ratings than an unreinforced PPH pipe wall of comparable weight could support.
• Reduced wall thickness compared with an equivalent-pressure solid PPH pipe lowers overall weight, easing handling and installation of large-diameter sections.
• The composite construction is well suited to applications combining elevated process temperature, aggressive chemical exposure, and demanding mechanical or pressure requirements simultaneously.
This combination allows plants running hot, corrosive process media through large-diameter lines to specify a PPH-lined system without moving to a heavier, all-metal or all-FRP solution, while retaining the chemical and thermal performance PPH is chosen for.
Typical applications include large-diameter hot acid and alkali transport lines, industrial process headers operating at elevated temperature, and installations where both thermal resistance and higher pressure capability are required together.
