PVDF is mainly used in critical applications requiring an excellent chemical resistance, a high degree of purity and excellent mechanical properties. PVDF has a very good creep resistance that is superior to that of other fluoropolymers.

Polyvinylidene fluoride or polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) is a highly non-reactive thermoplastic fluoropolymer produced by the polymerization of vinylidene difluoride. PVDF is a specialty plastic used in applications requiring the highest purity, as well as resistance to solvents, acids and bases.

PVDF is a tough, stable fluoropolymer with distinct engineering advantages. Discovered in 1969 by Dr Heijji Kawai, PVDF has a good performance to cost ratio.

A semi-crystalline thermoplastic, PVDF is used in applications requiring the highest of purity and will withstand harsh chemicals, It's highly desirable insolubility and electrical properties results from the polarity of alternating CH2 and CH2 groups on the polymer chain.

PVDF has a low density (1.78/cm3) compared to other fluoropolymers. Commonly used in the Semiconductor, defence, chemical and medical industries as well as in the production of lithium-ion batteries.

Material Properties

Excellent resistance to creep and fatigue
Excellent thermal stability
Excellent resistance to radiation
Often used as insulation and protection cover in chemical applications
UV resistant (does not age)
High dielectric constant
Working temperature from -20°C to +130°C

PVDF Factory is often used as an insulation or a protective barrier in the chemical industry.
